TALE 1.1   CEREAL KILLERS

One day Ton-o-Fun announces that the Creative Ideas Team has designed a new board game.
The announcement reads: "This game is unique!  It’s creative!  And it’s bound to sell millions!"  Excitement is in the air.  Your department gets to try it out Thursday afternoon.

You are ushered into the Play Room with obvious zeal.  The Director of Marketing, Sal Anything,
says with a wide grin "Come on in!  You’ll be surprised - we’ve got something different here.  Our Creative Ideas Team really outdid themselves on this one!"

After a loud cough into the microphone, Director Sal takes on an official air. "Ladies and gentlemen, I am very proud to unveil our latest creation for kids - a game that will be in every American home
within a year; a game with suspense, mystery and intrigue. A game where imagination and good old-fashioned smarts win the day.  A game like no other.  Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great
pleasure to present our new board game, Cereal Killers.

"The object of the game is to commit as many gruesome murders as possible without being caught
by the police.  (Wild, isn’t it?)  As you work your way around the board stalking and capturing your victims, be sure to cover your tracks and hide the clues or you’ll end up in jail!  You see, each
player gets these Murder Cards that describe the weapon used, the location where the body is dumped, and the details of the crime..."

You look at your coworkers to see their reaction.  It varies from keen interest in winning the game, to wide-eyed disbelief.  The concept does seem a bit outrageous - macabre, even.  But the people
in Creative Ideas must know what they’re doing.

The Director of Marketing continues.  "We plan to launch the game this Hallowe’en, with
promotions for toy axes, knives and chainsaws on the back of breakfast cereal boxes.  That’s why we call it Cereal Killers.  Get it?  It’s not just a game.  It’s also a co-branded marketing scheme!"  Most of the others in your department nod approvingly.

Since most everyone else is going along with it, you decide to play the game as well and not ask any questions about good taste.  After all, you’re just a junior and no expert in these matters.
